RebelNet is mainly focused upon IRC chat, but we also do other things, like FTP, radio, gaming and web content. Some of the readers may already know some or a lot about IRC chat, others do not. IRC stands for "Internet Relay Chat", and is a fairly simple chat protocol with an enormous amount of possibilities. RebelNet started years ago with UnrealIRCd's in Missouri and New Zealand. Since August 2010, the network runs InspIRCd's. The choice was made for the less bugs and better security options. For services Anope is being used.
For those who have no clue, but still want to try out our servers, we have an applet you can use. You will find it at http://rebelnet.us/chat/chat.html . For the more advanced users who use a chat client like mIRC, Xchat or such:
- Server : rebelnet.pointto.us
- Port : 6667-6669
- Channel: #The_Lounge
Hope to chat with you soon on our network.

The RebelNet staff are volunteers. The two Owners, MJP and SCM use their personal resources to keep the network running and to provide services. This also means that even though we try to keep the network running 24/7, we will not always succeed doing this, but we will always try to have our servers back running as soon as we can, and we will try to inform our users, if possible, about expected outages. |

The main language on our network is English, but we will also accept Dutch and German for the simple reason that MJP does understand these languages as well. We do understand that some people would like to be able to chat in a different language. This is allowed in a private room. When we have Opers or moderators that speak other languages we will add that to our allowed list. Still we will try to keep rooms in one language if possible. |

After a few years we still have only a small group of users that use our services. We understand that the lack of users does not attract users, but somewhere this has to be broken. We have said it before that if users bring in more users we will consider moderator or oper positions for these people. Of course we do expect these candidate moderators or opers to have good knowledge of IRC chat. If you are interested and think you can create a steady group of users, contact either MJP or SCM on the server or email MJP at

The rules on our IRC network are not very hard to understand, but are also a little bit flexible. We ask from our users to use their common sense on what is allowed and what is not. We do not care about a fuck or a shit. We even are very easy on any issue that could be called racist or discriminating on other servers. The rules are set by moderators and opers, so listen to their warnings. If words are being censored you know they are not allowed, and always keep in mind that if you do go to far, an oper or moderator does not have to warn before banning. |
